Being a massive fan of weight training, the moment I heard about the Vitlete Everyday Athlete Muscle Recovery Lotion I was equally curious and excited! DOMS, or delayed onset muscle soreness, is the bane of my life, therefore anything that can help with recovery will always be of interest.

How Do You Use The Recovery Lotion?

You can rub this into your body either pre or post workout. Personally, I tend to prefer post workout, while having my shake. Squirt the liquid into your hand and rub it into your muscles. You should apply it liberally to the skin.

The first time you use it, the pump might not give the full amount, so just give it an extra pump and from the second pump it worked perfectly.

It was nice to use a recovery lotion that didn’t intensely tingle or feel like it was burning my skin, this was a very subtle and refreshing lotion to soothe the area worked on.

How Much CBD Do You Get?

A tube contains 1,000mg of CBD, which is a good amount compared to most CBD products you’ll find, with the most common products being 500mg. This is an isolate CBD, meaning it doesn’t contain any of the other cannabinoids or terpenes you would expect to find in the plant, while it also means it has zero THC.

This might be important for many, especially athletes, as if you’re drug tested, THC can show up, therefore an isolate is your best option.

Why Include Organic Aloe Leaf?

The aloe vera leaf has regularly been utilised in skincare products, as it is rich in antioxidants, which help to fight off free radicals. It’s also packed full of enzymes, plus Vitamin C and A. While this might not be the main reason it’s included, aloe can moisturise and exfoliate the skin. Considering the nature of training, something to soothe and calm the skin is an obvious benefit.

Why Use Camphor Oil?

This is typically used to help ease any inflammation from your workouts. Whether you’re suffering from muscle aches or pains, there is a significant amount of research about the topical application of camphor oil to help tackle these issues.

What Are DOMS?

DOMS, or as mentioned, Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, is the pains and muscle aches you get after a workout which don’t kick in until either several hours later or, most commonly the next day. I personally find most of my aches properly kick in 24 hours later. We all hate leg DOMS the most, as you feel crippled trying to walk after doing squats and deadlifts. DOMS are realistically an inevitable part of weight training, however how much they hurt can be affected slightly by other factors such as post workout recovery, proper stretching and getting plenty of rest. But it is important to remember that DOMS aren’t a bad thing, I often see it as a sign of a really good workout, knowing I’ve pushed myself to my physical limits, reaching new weights and records.

What Did It Smell Of?

It describes the scent as refreshingly minty paprika, however I’d say the mint was the most noticeable scent I picked up.

Where Can I Buy This From?

You can purchase a 100ml tub from the Vitlete website for £45, while they also offer free shipping on all UK orders. It should be mentioned that the £45 price listed is based on a limited time pre-launch offer price, therefore if you’re looking at this in a few months time, it might have returned to the £65 price.
