I’m now trialling a more unique method of CBD consumption, formed by Liverpudlian based brand V&YOU. I have two flavoured CBD infused pouches, in berry and citrus.

How Do You Use Pouches?

This was my first ever time using a CBD pouch, so I did have to have a quick look over the instructions myself. Take out a single pouch from the pack and place it in the side of your mouth, between your cheek and your gum.

You should try to keep it in your mouth for 45 minutes, I fell short each time and stopped at 30-40 minutes, partly as I got hungry, but if you fancy a hot drink or some water then you can easily pop it out and then back in your mouth after and carry on.

I also experimented by having it under the tongue, as this is what you do with CBD oil for sublingual consumption, to enhance the absorption rate. I’ve no idea if that improves it at all, but worth giving a try I reckon.

How Do They Taste?

The berry tasted a little of cranberry, but I’m not sure if that is the berry used. The taste remained strong from the first moment till the point I took it out of my mouth. It’s not like chewing gum, where the flavour is largely gone after a minute of it being in your mouth.

I slightly preferred the citrus over the berry flavour, offering something a little more tangy which I enjoyed.

Who Are V&YOU?

V&YOU, running under the name Vilosphy, was formed by Titus Wouda Kuipers, Ged Shudall and Markus Bonke and was launched in September 2020. The aim is to create accessible premium-level products which contain active ingredients.

They offer CBD and nicotine products, but as someone that doesn’t smoke, I’ll only be focusing on their CBD range, with their products including pouches, drops and sprays.

How Much CBD Do You Get?

Each pouch contains 20mg of CBD, while a pack has 15 pouches, meaning 300mg of CBD per order.

Obviously, this won’t all transfer from the pouch to your mouth instantly, so it is imperative that you keep the pouch in your mouth for the length of time recommended to ensure you absorb as much as possible.

Most people look to take around 20mg of CBD per day (on average), therefore this is quite an ideal dosage size. If you want more, you can put a couple in your mouth at once, or take one in the morning and one in the evening. The most important aspect to remember is that the FSA doesn’t recommend over 70mg of CBD per day, which would mean no more than 3 pouches in a 24 hour period.

As the lab reports were sent over to myself, the Chief Product Officer provided a quick explanation of the traceability system and batch codes, that I thought people might find useful if they were to look at the lab reports, so I’ve shared this below:

“Our batch code is straightforward, the first letter is C or N , for nicotine or CBD and the 2nd and 3rd letters and indicate the flavour (CI= Citrus, BE=Berry)  and the last four numbers are the batch number. These numbers are unique and entered into the batch manufacturing record before we make a product.”

“When we create the batch manufacturing record, the recipe generates an ingredients requirement and we record the batch number for every ingredient in our system. So whether it is 5gm of Acesulfame or 10kgs of Hemp flakes, we know which batch and supplier it came from.”

“The manufacturing process ensures we create a consistently mixed mass (the mass is the product inside the pouches) whether it is CBD or Nicotine product. The process and recipes are confidential as you would expect.  The product process is the subject of a HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) which is an established process undertaken by manufacturing quality experts to analyse the process to be followed to ensure there are no unmitigated risks.”

“Additionally, you also have the analysis of the CBD isolate and distillate we use in our pouch products. We supplement the information from the supplier with independent verification of the contents periodically. Additionally, CBD distillate from a supplier is normally specified to circa 90% ingredients. Our toxicologist insisted that we establish what the other unspecified ingredients are to ensure there is nothing harmful to our clients.”

Where Can I Buy This From?

You can order yourself some V&YOU Chill CBD Pouches from their website for only £9.99 per pack. They also offer a group discount if you order 5 or 10 packs at once, so it could be worth investing a little extra to gain from economies of scale.

V&YOU offer free delivery to address in the UK, while if you make your order before 3pm then it will be shipped on the same day! They can also ship to destinations within the EU, however there will be a small added delivery charge.
