plant-the-seed

Plant The Seed is a family run hemp brand launched by Georgie and Lewis, found just along the coast from myself in Bognor Regis.

Established in the summer of 2020, this British brand was born during lockdown, with Georgie already a CBD consumer, taking it for symptoms of anxiety, however the couple then wanted to look into releasing their own CBD brand to help others in a similar situation.

Over the past week I’ve had the good fortune of testing out their CBD oil, so read on for my full review.

How Much CBD Do You Get?

They have two options in their stable, the 500mg and 1,000mg CBD oil’s. I’ve been testing out the 1,000mg CBD oil (always happy to test out the stronger one).

The lab report highlighted that it actually had a slightly higher quantity of CBD than targeted, while I also contained a number of other cannabinoids, including CBG, CBC and minor amounts of THC.

I’m always happy to see as much CBG as possible, while the combination of cannabinoids present will help provide the entourage effect.

The hemp is from EU certified Swiss industrial hemp farms, where they practice completely organic practices.

As you would expect with modern practices, the CBD oil is gathered through CO2 extraction methods, a practice which normally yields positive results when it comes to retaining the cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes into the final oil.

A drop contains 5mg of CBD, however I’m useless at counting the drops as they fall in my mouth, so I used a third of a dropper each time (being around 33mg of CBD) during the testing period. Make sure to hold the drops for a couple of minutes under your tongue before swallowing.

I try a lot of CBD oil, but every now and then I find one which I’m quite a fan of and this was certainly that! I found the results for me personally were exactly what I was after, helping me to drift off at night and calming me down before some big presentations.

It had a strong hemp scent, something I do love, albeit that shouldn’t be an influencing factor, just something I personally like. Having said that, the taste was subtle.

In fact, the over-riding taste was the sunflower oil, which I will dive into next…

What Carrier Oil Do They Use?

As just briefly mentioned, Plant The Seed utilise organic sunflower oil, extracted from the seeds.

This oil is highly absorbent, while an added bonus is that it is high in Vitamin A, B, D and E, but the real reason for having sunflower oil is its ability to work as a carrier oil to increase the bioavailability of CBD after consumption.

The sunflower oil inevitably changes the taste compared to what you normally expect with a CBD oil, as most brands use either MCT oil or hemp seed oil, so this has a slightly more nutty taste.

Where Can I Buy This From?

If you’re looking to pick up a bottle of the 1,000mg CBD oil by Plant The Seed, then it can be bought from their website for £49.99, or if you’re working on a tighter budget, you can pick up the 500mg CBD oil for £29.99.

They also have a discount code for free delivery within the UK, being ‘SHIPITFREE’, which you can apply at checkout.
