cbd honey scotland

The original full spectrum CBD infused honey is the second product I’m testing by Holistic Hemp Scotland after their cooling gel, partly because I got peckish and really fancied some honey on toast! My testing period involved me adding it to toast each morning and occasionally adding it to a morning smoothie or in my tea, to test it for various different ways.

How Should I Have The Honey?

You can consume the CBD infused honey in a number of ways, such as on toast like I had it. You can also add it to a hot drink as an alternative to sugar. I personally don’t like using it as an alternative to sugar, as I’m unsure if it breaks down at a high temperature, which is the same reason I don’t add manuka honey to anything hot.

You can also mix it into smoothies to offer a sweeter taste, or anything else you would have honey with, such as in a marinade. I actually quite liked the extra sweet kick it added to my banana and strawberry smoothie. I also plan on having it with yogurt, nuts and fruit next week to mix up my breakfast a bit.

What Type Of Honey Is This?

It’s a raw and unpasteurised honey from a family run farm in Lithuania. The formula is actually a combination, being 44% buckwheat honey and 44% forest wildflower honey.

It was a thick honey rather than a runny one, however it easily spreads on toast. Many people misconceive this as to do with it being raw, however it’s actually related to the floral sources. Being a hydroscopic ingredient, the humidity and temperature will have a huge effect on whether a honey is runny or hard.

How Should I Store The CBD Infused Honey?

DON’T store it in the fridge. I’ve seen a few people do this and it confuses me each time. If you do, it’s most likely that the honey will solidify, making it much harder to spread or add to your drink. If you’re adding it to something warm, it will naturally become more liquid based, so no need to worry about this. Honey is perfectly suited to room temperature.

Why Should I Eat Honey?

Yes, honey is high in sugar, so you shouldn’t eat too much in a day, but there are a number of amazing health benefits to this sweet liquid. Unlike other health based ingredients, I won’t be pointing to vitamins or minerals, as these are relatively low, however it does contain bioactive plant compounds.

Honey is packed full of antioxidants, which can help to fight off free radicals. In fact, the buckwheat honey that Holistic Hemp Scotland have chosen is famous for increasing the antioxidant value of your blood, so is seen as one of the most healthy.

From lowering your bad cholesterol to lowering your blood pressure, honey is seen as a magic ingredient which is constantly being heralded in the media as the ideal addition to your diet. I take a few of the points with a pinch of salt, but I certainly will add some onto my toast a couple of times per week.

Where Can I Buy This From?

You can purchase the Holistic hemp Scotland original full spectrum CBD infused honey from their website for £36.99. Sure, that’s a step up in price from your usual honey, but it packs a respectable 630mg of CBD/CBDA!
